If you search for a dash cam, a roof rack, or an OBD reader online, you'll find thousands of options. Marketplaces full of products with names you can't pronounce, ratings that may or may not mean anything, and descriptions written to rank in search rather than tell you the truth.
We could list all of it. We don't.
RhodShark exists because we believe curation is a service. Not every product that fits a category belongs in front of a driver who gives a damn about their car. And selling you something that fails β or underdelivers, or just takes up space in your garage β isn't a transaction we're interested in.
Curation is a choice. Every product we don't carry is as deliberate as every product we do.
WHAT THE STANDARD ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
Every product that ends up at RhodShark goes through the same filter. Would a driver who actually knows what they're doing β who's done the research, who's been burned by cheap gear before β trust this? Not just buy it, but trust it. Recommend it. Put it in their car and not think about it again.
CERTIFICATION ISN'T A CHECKBOX
For products where certification matters β OBD readers, battery chargers, electrical tools β we require it. Not because a certification logo looks good on a product page, but because it means the product was tested against a standard by someone other than the manufacturer. That's a meaningful difference.
WHY WE'RE TELLING YOU THIS
Because trust is built before the purchase, not after. You shouldn't have to wonder whether we thought carefully about what we carry. We did. We're telling you we did so you know what you're buying into when you shop here β not just a product, but a standard.
